Multiple years into recovery from a decade-long opioid addiction, Ryan Hampton has been recently rocketed to the center of America’s recovery advocacy movement. He is now a prominent leading face and voice of addiction recovery and is changing the national dialogue about addiction through social media. With content that reaches over one million people a week, Ryan is breaking down cultural barriers that have kept people suffering in silence and is inspiring a digital revolution of people recovering out loud through his impactful #VoicesProject.

Ryan was a part of the advocacy team that helped to contribute to the U.S. Surgeon General’s first ever report on addiction. He was singled out by Forbes as a top social media entrepreneur and contributing force to the recovery movement. Currently he is an outreach lead and recovery activist for Facing Addiction, a non-profit dedicated to ending the addiction crisis in the United States.

His thought leadership on addiction recovery topics has been published in various publications and online journals including The Wall Street Journal, Slate and Forbes. Ryan has appeared nationally as a valued panelist and keynote speaker at notable events and is passionate about thought provoking discussions to solve this crisis.

In 2016, Ryan created the web series Facing Addiction across America, documenting his 30 day, 28 state, and 8,000 mile cross-country trip visiting areas hit hardest by the drug epidemic. Ryan has a unique ability to connect with audiences, just as he has captured the hearts of people across the country who are passionate about ending the addiction crisis. Ryan shares these candid stories and his sincere conviction that we already hold the solutions to this crisis in his first book, “American Fix — Inside the Opioid Addiction Crisis and How to End It” published by St. Martin’s Press in 2018.

Ryan resides in California, but is always traveling and can often be found on some Main Street connecting with those that offer solutions and recovery knowledge.

The Recovery Community knows what to do. We know how to end this crisis.
